Speakers:
John Fisher:
- John began connecting to bulletin boards in the early 90s and has always adapted to the latest technologies and trends in design.
- As his career began as a print graphic designer, he was able to easily transplant his expertise to the web. He has been producing websites for clients and businesses since 1997.
- John is currently project manager for a website development company in Milwaukee WI. His company has produced hundreds of websites for local businesses, organizations and individuals for almost ten years.
- John's experience using Joomla extends back to the earlier Mambo project after spending years looking for a open-source CMS covering all his client's needs.
- He is currently doing projects using Joomla 1.5 and plans to continue developing on the new platform track Joomla is actively pursuing. His expertise is working with the popular ecommerce component, Virtuemart.
Victor Drover:
- Professor Drover is on Faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Departments of Medicine and Biochemistry) where he spends his days exploring the mechanistic details of dietary fat utilization and their impact on the development of diabetes and heart disease.
- Prior to moving to Milwaukee in 2007, he was a Faculty member at SUNY Stony Brook (New York).
- Victor obtained his Undergraduate, Master and Doctoal degrees in Canada. During his time as a career student up North, he started his web design firm Anything Digital (1997) and primarily built static web sites for amateur sports teams.
- After emigrating to America in 2002, he discovered Mambo and Joomla, and began implementing dynamic solutions to clients based on this infrastructure.
- In 2005, Victor began maintaining his own repository of Extcal, a Mambo extension that evolved into the JCal Pro extension for Joomla. In July 2007, JCal Pro was released as a commercial GPL extension, one of the first of it's kind in the Joomlasphere.
- In December of 2008, Victor joined the editorial team on the Joomla! extensions directory and co-founded the JUG Milwaukee.
- When not in the laboratory, Victor continues to manage the staff and direction at Anything Digital and keeps a keen eye on all product development and testing.
